Any Obando

Blazer-Club Monaco; Pants- Reitmans; Shirt- Wilfred; Shoes- Aldo

1) Who is your style inspiration?

Gina Torres (Jessica from Suits).

2) What is your “go-to” signature item that you need to wear to work?

I will always have a pair of comfortable business flats in my office—just in case!

3) What advice can you give to students about choosing the right outfit for interviews?

The colour is less important than the fit. Make sure that your suit fits you well and comfortably because you will be running in it all day. That being said, don’t go crazy on the colours…keep it simple and clean.

4) What is your favourite store to shop at for business clothing?

When I want to splurge: Club Monaco; Fun and on a budget: Reitmans.

Presenting…The Fashion Files

Fashion Files 2017

Many of you may be wondering how to “dress the part.” Picking the right outfit for an interview or for work in a business environment can be a daunting task. With our weekly Fashion Files, our blog team hopes to provide you with a solid overview of what is trending in corporate fashion.

In this week’s Fashion Files, we introduce you to two of our summer students, Kelly Lee and Jesse Tepperman.

Kelly Lee

Suit-Banana Republic; Shirt-Theory; Shoes– Nine West

1) Who is your style inspiration?

Tilda Swinton.

2) What is your “go-to” signature item that you need to wear to work?

Well-fitted pants.

3) What advice can you give to students about choosing the right outfit for interviews?

Wear what makes you feel the most confident. Being comfortable in what you wear is a big part of that. I grappled with whether to wear a skirt suit or paintsuit for interviews as I got conflicting advice. Ultimately, I decided to wear what I felt the best and most comfortable in. I wore pantsuits for all of my interviews and felt good about my decision!

4) What is your favourite store to shop at for business clothing?

Banana Republic and J.Crew suits fit me well but may not be for everyone. Both stores are also good places to get nice blouses and shells. If you have time to dig through racks at Winners, you may find a gem! For heels, Nine West and Cole Haan are the most comfortable for me. Loafers are always good to have in the office too.

Jesse Tepperman

Suit-Strelson; Dress Shirt-Strelson; Tie– Strelson; Belt– Saks Fifth Avenue; Shoes– Johnston Murphy

1) Who is your style inspiration?

Ari Gold from Entourage.

2) What is your “go-to” signature item that you need to wear to work?

A nice tie. Tie fashion is stronger than ever and wearing a tie that resembles your personality can definitely make an outfit.

3) What advice can you give to students about choosing the right outfit for interviews?

I have always believed that less is more when it comes to dressing for an interview. Do not wear an over the top suit or dress shirt. Keep it simple by wearing a white or blue dress shirt, a modest tie, and a basic coloured suit.

4) What is your favourite store to shop at for business clothing?

Strelson. The suits fit me like a glove, there are lots of different styles to choose from, and the prices are reasonable.
